What If…? episode 2: Marvel fans react to storm cameo from a major MCU villain

What If…? episode 2 has landed. The premise: What if T'Challa became a Principal-Lord?

It's a construct that Wonder Studios takes and uses it as a launching pad for all sorts of imaginative moments, including several Easter egg and a cameo atomic number 102 one saw coming. That last mentioned surprise has already set social media aflame – and here are some of the biggest fan reactions so far.

"The shock happening my face when I saw Thanos," one viewer said. Yes, that Thanos. Josh Brolin's Mad Titan-overturned-Ravager also caused others to express surprise at the show making U.S. "ascendant" for the baddie. "I'll ne'er watch Infinity War or Endgame the same [way]," aforesaid another.

Simply it's the rationality why Thanos joined up with T'Challa's team up that is acquiring the most attention. In the episode, he reveals that a smooth debate with Chadwick Boseman's Asterisk-Lord helped him see the light.

"Enjoy this and thought it made then much common sense," aforesaid one user on Chirrup. Others also called attention to Boseman's "wonderful performance" as well arsenic the episode as a total being a "gorgeous, heartwarming and wholesome tribute to our Hero of Alexandria Chadwick Boseman."

The episode, which ended with a tribute to Boseman, also included a fun show from Howard the Sidestep (voiced aside Seth Greenish). "I'm thrilled to see him in the MCU," one Marvel fan said of the quackers cameo. Other called Green's performance an deterrent example of "perfect casting."

Finally, one tweet echoed much of the MCU fanbase brand-viewing, "Episode 2 of #WhatIf was amazing, truly amazing. The Easter eggs, the storylines, the whole execution in the main felt so much better than the first ep. Bringing back ult characters, especially a certain 'mad' person... Can't wait for next week."
